Pulled aside during the ward round this morning by my consultant . Was told-off big time by Dr E.
Patient had not received his antibiotic for a few days, and according to Dr E, I haven't done anything about it.
Sorry sir. I'm not to be blamed. The antibiotic has already been prescribed, as per his instruction. Administering it was the nurses' responsibility. If they had any problems giving the drug to the poor patient, they should have contacted me. And they clearly hadn't. I can't go round every day, checking if the nurses have done their job.
Wait..wait...Haven't they just employed a third matron?? Are the matrons still working, or have they all gone celebrating New Year???
Can't help but feel being blamed because I'm the most junior member of Dr E's team.
Sigh!!!
